Here are some peices we have done last year. Our design and finish.

It is probably very ambitious of me to think that this is a "masterpiece", but I do believe that this is definitely our best piece done by now! It looks absolutely fantastic! I think it would be a "jewel" for anyone who appreciates art..

"Ying Yang" Fish

One more recent carving that my father has finished. It isn't really a YingYang, but it always makes me think of it when I look at it. Unfortunatelly, the pictures do not show how amazing the finishes are. The gold paint used on the fish and the varnish covering the the surface give it depth, certain perspective and make it look as if the fish were really under water. I think it looks wonderful, unusual and unique! Hope you like it as much as I do..

M.C.Escher Inspired

I have been a fan of M.C. Escher since I was a kid. I think that the man was a genious, but do not let me get started on that!
So the next carving that we were working on we have decided to make of M.C.Eschers beautiful engraving "Rind" (1955)

Here's the original, which you have probably seen before

Here is our version of it. Already carved on a thin sheet of wood and painted black (sorry, had no time to take pictures of drawing.. had no time!). The carving is being filled in with silver

All done! I think it came out absolutely beautiful, but I am not really the one to judge. Hope you like it!

I'll post the end result as soon as it will be done. This piece always makes me smile and want to be a child again! One of my favourites! Hope you like it as well :)

The original scupture by F.E. McWilliam

Our interpretation of it on canvas

One of my friends/clients went to London with her boyfriend and visited Tate Gallery. She told me that he fell in love with F.E. McWilliam's sculpture Eye, Nose and Cheek (1939) and she wanted to make a painiting of it for Valetine's day.

This is what we came up with. She wanted it to be as realistic as possible, so we used aerography to make it look and feel like real stone and give it enough volume.

I think it came out quite nice and the client was very happy. So if anyone has ther favourite art/sculpture/ painting feel free to email me for a quote. We can make them as a painting, using aerography(as showed above), fresco could give an old look and of course carvings - modern sophisticated look.

Two aerography pieces. The top one is not finished. Unfortunatelly you cannot see in the pictures but they also have very nice texture :)

Custom Made Furniture

This piece was made in 2007. To fit together with the antique pieces, that the client had in his house, we had to create an ornament that would suit this cupboard. The ornamentation was created by my father. The top of the cupboard is finished with Italian Polished Plaster (Immitation of Marble)

These pieces were not created by us, we have only done the gilding on the chair, bedside table and headboard.

Restoration piece. The client did not like what the other painter had done with the cupboard (it was too dark and poor quality), so we had to design the ornamentation to make it look more classical and lighter.

Another custom made coffee table we painted. Ornamentation created by my father.

My neme is Kateryna Botysheva and I am an Interior Designer from the Algarve, Portugal. I have graduated from Florence Design Academy in December 2008. Since then I have been working as a freelancer. However the works showed here were done during the last 5 years.

We ( my father ia a painter and my mother works with gold/silver leaf - gilding) specialize in Venetian plaster, Italian polished plaster, faux, gliding, murals and wallpapering. We work in all the styles, creating unique designs and furniture pieces according to our clients wishes.

We have been working in design and specializing in wall finishes for over 20 years. Before moving to the Algarve we worked in Kiev, Ukraine. Our projects included the casino "Ra" in the center of Kiev, restaurants, beauty salons and private residences. In the Algarve we’ve concentrated our work on private residencesin the areas of Vale do Lobo, Quinta do Lago, Pinheros Altos, etc. continuing work in restaurant and hotel design as well.

Here is a home office we worked on in 2007. We've painted the ceiling, bult-in furniture and panels (painting, immitation of marble and gilding), repainted and restored the office furniture, painted the rail of the staircase, etc.

The family has already had the furniture, but it did not match the new office. We have repainted and repared the desk and chairs to fit the color and style of the space.

The space had a very classic and sophisticated look, but was very light at the same time. Built in bookcase gave a lot of extra space and behind was enough space for a small bathroom with shower. Overall I think it came out very nice. Hope you like it!
